Abstract
Description
During a visit to Antelope Canyon, I was struck by its breathtaking curves. Formed not by ease, but by enduring centuries of wind, water, and time. As I stood among the sandstone walls, I couldn't help but see a reflection of my own path through medicine.
Like the canyon, my journey has not been linear. I took a meaningful hiatus from my training to prioritize family affairs; an emotional decision grounded in love and responsibility. During that time, I faced moments of uncertainty, wondering if stepping away would dim the spark that first led me to medicine. But instead of fading, my passion endured. I stayed connected to the field and kept seeking ways to grow because caring for others is not just a profession to me; it’s a calling.
Returning to clinical training after a break brought challenges, but also clarity. Just as Antelope Canyon was shaped by the ebb and flow of natural forces, my resilience was shaped by life’s detours. Every twist in the rock mirrors a moment of doubt I turned into determination; every beam of light cutting through the narrow walls symbolizes hope I held onto.
The picture I took there is more than a snapshot, it’s a reminder that beauty is often born through pressure and time. I carry that symbolism with me as I move forward, grateful for both the setbacks and the strength they revealed. My path has not been traditional, but it’s made me a more grounded, compassionate, and committed physician.
