Making the Extraordinary, Ordinary: How to Manage GME Crisis

Abstract

Historically, response to crisis is reactionary, with little forethought into communication protocols, preparing for the emotional fall-out, dealing with the media, or managing rumors and social media. This session will facilitate discussion on how to manage a crisis at all levels, as well as supply a framework for an Emergency Response Flip-Chart that participants can take and personalize for their institution. Additionally, because GME leaders are often the first notified to assist in a resident/fellow crisis, this course will allow attendees to participate in several mock crisis scenarios and create plans to manage them at each step.
